The La Siberia Biosphere Reserve is located in the northeast of the province of Badajoz, in the autonomous community of Extremadura, and the Mediterranean biogeographical region.

In its territorial scope it includes 11 municipalities: Castilblanco, Fuenlabrada de los Montes, Garbayuela, Helechosa de los Montes, Herrera del Duque, Puebla de Alcocer, Risco, Sancti-Spíritus, Tamurejo, Valdecaballeros and Villarta de los Montes, which, as a whole, represent an area of ​​155,717 Ha, which have a population of just over eleven thousand inhabitants, forming one of the most unknown and best preserved enclaves in Extremadura.

Siberia is characterized by its forest formations, its large amount of dammed water, its abundant pastures and meadows and the traditional olive groves that mark the landscape of each of its villages. This great diversity of ecosystems and traditional management and uses have resulted in unique landscapes of high biodiversity.

It houses 8 Natural Protected Spaces of the Natura 2000 Network, 4 Special Protection Areas for Birds (ZEPA) and 7 Special Conservation Zones (ZEC); 2 Protected Spaces of the Protected Areas Network of Extremadura and 1 Wetland of International Importance RAMSAR.
