Navalvillar de Pela is a beautiful municipality in the province of Badajoz, located between the counties of La Serena, La Siberia and Las Vegas Altas del Guadiana, with 4238 inhabitants, has two urban centers, Obando (21 7 inhabitants) and Vegas Altas (291 inhabitants); These were founded in the sixties and are mainly devoted to irrigated agriculture.
The village of Navalvillar de Pela is located in a plain settlement, near the area of ​​Vegas Altas, sheltering the shelter of the Sierra de Pela, formerly called Entrambas Pelas. At 368 meters of altitude, it has an area of ​​251.2 square kilometers.

In the antiquity, the population belonged jurisdictionally to the city of Trujillo, and religiously, to the Diocese of Plasencia, in whose bosom it continues. In the local area, the locality is familiarly known as Pela, and its natives as "peleños".
