SENDERO PORTILLO DEL CÍJARA

ROUTE

We start north along the main track (about 10 km) until we reach the viewpoint of Portillo del Cíjara. The descent, about 600 m, requires some caution until we reach the old road N-502, of which almost no asphalt remains. We will take this road for about 7.5 km, until we reach a fork where we will choose to take the left uphill. Through this track, we will return to the Casa del Cíjara after traveling about 1,400 m.

 

SITUATION

Herrera del Duque.

ACCESS

It starts from the tourist lodgings of Casa del Cíjara in Herrera del Duque, at the foot of one of the central tracks of the Regional Hunting Reserve of Cíjara.

ROUTE CHARACTERISTICS

On foot; length 19.40 Km; d uration of the march 4 h 50 min ; -low medium difficulty. By bike: 2 h 10 min. Elevation: 257 m. Circular route.

VALUES

  • Vegetation: Stone pine and resin pine, cork oaks, holm oaks, strawberry trees, holm oaks. Shrubs: Rockroses, heather, rosemary and Spanish Lavender.
  • Fauna: Deer, deer, roe deer and wild boar. Birds: Griffon and black vultures, golden eagles, Egyptian vultures, kites, Great Spotted Woodpecker, jays and black storks.
