GALIZUELA

Description

Near to Puebla de Alcocer we find the village of Galizuela , hamlet of Esparragosa de Lares . Old nucleus of step of the Mesta , depended on the Order of Alcántara .

Located on the western slope of the Sierra de Lares and flanked by the La Serena reservoir , two important heritage elements stand out in this small and sparsely inhabitedvillage: El Palacio de la Encomienda , which was the home of the Marquis of Someruelo and which is currently located in ruinous condition, as well as the Ermita de la Encarnación , dating from the S. XVIII. It also has a humble parish built in brick, the modest Church of San Sebastian , which houses a carving of the Virgin of Lares .

There are no bars or establishments in Galizuela , so the best thing that the visitor can offer this town is the tranquility that is breathed there and the landscape of the plain in which it is located.

Points of interest:

  • Ruinas del Palacio de la Encomienda.
  • Ermita de la Encarnación.
  • Iglesia de San Sebastián / Talla de la Virgen de Lares.
