In the interior of Extremadura is the mountainous area known by its own inhabitants as "the Siberia Extremeña", unique qualification that comes from its use as a zone of exile and isolation of political residents, the last of which came to the area during the Franco regime, although it is also considered the option of being a name imposed by the Duke of Osuna after serving as ambassador in Russia. It has this qualification not only poetic echoes, but also a certain climate, given the extreme temperatures that characterize the region both in winter and in summer. Fortunately, the other seasons of the year appear softer in comparison, both in autumn and spring, thus favoring the transit of visitors who come to the region to discover its many places and points of interest. If we take into account the Thornthwaite humidity index, which assesses the effectiveness of rainfall and temperatures, the region of Siberia belongs to a dry-subhumid climate (because according to the assessment of this system, its Humidity Index it is between - 20 and 0). Its winters and summers are extreme, while in autumn and spring, milder temperatures prevail.

Various habitats and landscapes characterize this area, giving it an undeniable attraction based on the wide diversity of both flora and fauna. Not in vain is Siberia integrated into the Network of Protected Natural Spaces of Extremadura (RENPEX), as well as into the European ecological network Red Natura 2000. Its sites range from wooded, rocky and steppe to dehesas, irrigated areas and wetlands. The innate attraction of the region invites you to explore it and discover it through its great routes, either by car, by bike or on foot, the latter through the Siberian Trails Network. It also throws a huge range of recreational possibilities, both aquatic (thanks to its reservoirs and rivers, in addition to its many jetties, beaches and natural pools, we can enjoy sailing, canoeing or a refreshing bath in family) and outdoors (bicycle tourism, hiking, mycology, climbing, hunting activities, popular festivals and gastronomy, among other diverse activities).

The Siberia Extremeña is therefore a privileged natural environment, which also holds the status of an ornithological paradise, ideal for birdwatching lovers thanks to the huge number of species that fly over the area, among which are griffon vultures, golden eagles or black storks, to name a few, and that can be observed from some of the privileged viewpoints arranged by the region. Nor should we overlook the heritage, cultural, artistic and gastronomic wealth that immediately arouses the fascination of all visitors who enter La Siberia. And it is that Siberia combines rest and leisure, a wealth at all levels that turns this beautiful corner into a wonder worthy of being discovered.

It is therefore this combination of natural beauty, playful alternatives and cultural heritage that makes Siberia Extremeña the perfect tourist destination for those seeking a perfect alternative vacation.
